This is a beginner level of ballet and creative movement for ages 6-9. The students learn the ballet positions, beginner ballet barre, and basic ballet vocabulary. Stretching and balance are emphasized. Rhythm and musicality is stressed through use of skipping and scarves. We attempt to keep this level fun to develop the child’s interest in dance. Students that have taken class for several sessions, and some students on the older end of the range may be promoted to Level 1A. More is expected at that level, and they may be selected to demonstrate for the class. Once in Level 1A for a while, they may be invited to attend the barre portion of the level 2 class following the Saturday 1/1A class. Level 1A student should be attending at least 2 classes per week.
